What’s this all about

“Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that goddamn mountain.”

Jack Kerouac couldn’t be more right.

After having thru-hiked the Alpe Adria Trail in Summer 2017 (our greatest adventure so far!) we got a taste of long-distance hiking, and so we decided to give it another try: in September 2018 we hiked the Berge-Seen-Trail in the Salzkammergut which leads through three provinces of Austria: Upper Austria, Styria and Salzburg. Though we weren’t so lucky with the weather (we had at least 10 days of rain more or less the whole day!) it was an amazing experience! So many lakes we passed, so many forests we hiked through and so many gorgeous views from up above we enjoyed. No wonder that the Salzkammergut now is one of my favourite regions I’ve ever been to. Even more: a place you could really enjoy living!

Now, this year we’re rather short on holidays 🙁 so we had to find a rather short trail within easy reach and after a lot of options we finally decided to do the Nockberge Trail with a little addendum (some stages from our well-loved AAT), in total 9-10 days and around 150km. We already got a taste of the Nockberge during our AAT and the landscape was fantastic! So, a little revival of the Alpe Adria Trail awaits us!

Start: 21st August 2019
