Day 0 – Arrival in Heiligenblut

It’s been one busy day… My parents drove us to Heiligenblut to walk the first stage with us from the Kaiser Franz Josefs Höhe down to Heiligenblut. So first we had to get everything in the car which wasn’t easy. After a lot of rummaging around we managed to fit it all into the trunk. And off we went…

A few kilometres before Heiligenblut we stopped for the Jungfernsprung, a pretty waterfall which got its name from a folk tale.

Arriving at our destination we first stopped at our accomodation, the Pension Bergkristall. It’s really nice, very quiet though in the middle of the town. The rooms are very large with a small kitchen and our host is extremely friendly.

Heiligenblut itself is small, of course very touristic but neat and pretty. We walked around a bit, ate at the Kirchenwirt, visited the church and found the first Alpe Adria Trail information point.

In the evening I got hungry so we went to the Dorfstüberl and ate pizza. Because I’ll never know when I might get the next big meal. 😉 Better eating something in advance. 😁

The weather was nearly perfect so we could sit outside the whole afternoon and evening. Tomorrow it won’t be so good, unfortunately, so we need to hurry on our first stage. 😞
