Today we hiked the most boring and hardest tour so far…
But first it started with a small but good breakfast at the Schutzhaus with the great view onto the alpine pasture and the mountains. They even had homemade bread!
Then we left for Innerfragant on a very uncharming steep path down. 900m down on 5km! With the backpacks on it took us 1,5 hours and felt like an eternity. We looked for the Alpe Adria Trail information point but couldn’t find it anywhere!
Then it got worse because we had to walk 2-3km along a well frequented road without any pedestrian lane. It was hot, there were cars too often but at least we walked quickly. 😉
We then hiked along a 4×4 road next to the Fragant river and then through Laas, Außerfragant and Flattach. In Außerfragant we stopped at the local supermarket for something to drink and some fruits. And then I was glad to leave the streets and cars behind because up we hiked again. The path led through meadows and the forest up to the Stanerhäuser from where we finally had a great view into the valleys and the mountains again!
Then the path went steeply down again to the highlight of today, the inn Himmelbauer. The view up there was awesome, the staff very friendly and we ate lunch: chips and Kletzennudeln (local speciality, a sweet pasta dish). The coffee was also very good! Everything tasted great and we had a wonderful break.
After an hour we continued down to Mallnitz: a very uncomfortable steep path through the forest up and down and up and down… You get the impression. 😉
Finally we arrived at the Pension Thalerhof, our accomodation for the night. The landlady is very nice and offered us to put some clothes in the washing machine. We also had dinner there which left us full, happy and tired. 😉
