Merino is the word!

What to wear during two months when you should pack lightly and probably can only take less than a handful of shirts with you? When you’re gonna wear the same stuff day after day, probably without washing it for quite some days and going through various weather conditions…

After having had good experience with merino wool shirts during sports I decided to get those also for our hiking trip. So I looked around for organic merino wool shops and found Dilling: the assortment is not extremely large but organic and not too expensive. Ordering and shipping was quick and so we could already try the shirts during some 8-12 km runs with a few degrees below zero and harsh wind.

I wore the long-sleeve merino shirt from Dilling and a sleeveless running jacket, and Felix only wore the long-sleeve shirt. We both found that the Dilling shirts were really comfortable, not scratchy and even after days after using (and not washing 😉 ) them there was not even the littlest hint of smell. We didn’t feel cold during the run and the shirts weren’t really sweaty.

I also used my shirt for biking (30 minutes of drive in winter with degrees below zero), and again it didn’t smell or was wet although I definitely was sweating.

That was quite some satisfying test for colder conditions. Now we’ve got to wait and see how they’ll perform when it’s warmer. We’ll keep you informed!
