Day 31 – from Trenta to Bovec

The night at the Air B&B of Bojana was quite ok but rather short when I was woken by some cars passing by in the early morning at around 5.30. Since we wanted to start early anyway we got up at 6.15 a.m.

We made breakfast for ourselves, with what little we could buy at the only supermarket in town. But at least we had healthy yogurts and peaches. (And quite a lot of Nutella which I nearly got everywhere on the trail so far and sometimes is my only option when I want to avoid the cheap jam and honey packets. 😉)

Shortly after 7.30 a.m. we headed off again along the Soča to Bovec.

The air was crisp and cool and it was really nice in the early morning. I’m going to become a real early bird. 😂

Today again was along the Soča for nearly the whole path. Again it was kind of a rough terrain with many boulders, rocks, stones and roots along the way. We also crossed quite some swing bridges and sometimes had to consult both our GPS and guidebook to find the correct path. We already figured that the Slovenians aren’t so good with trail markings. 😉

All in all, the way along the Soča was sometimes pretty nice but actually, it does get dull with time when you’re hiking along the same river for hours no matter how emerald green the water looks. 😉

In-between we also had some good views onto the mountains and saw a lovely farmhouse:

The best part was the break at one of the prettiest spots near the Soča where we got out our picnic blanket and lay down for half an hour. I even got into the Soča but only with my feet because the water was icy!!!

We arrived at Bovec at 3 p.m. and saw right at the beginning of the town a restaurant where we stopped for great pizza and pasta. Then we did some shopping and went to find our accomodation, the Apartment Raft. Mihel, the owners’ son is a great guy and we talked a little bit. We have a whole apartment with so much space just for ourselves and there’s even a nice garden to sit outside. The garden in front and behind the house is being tended to by Olga, Mihels mum, who’s just a lovely person. And the roses smell so great!

Bovec is also a very nice town (totally different to Trenta), very young and there are lots of sporty people because you can do a lot of canyoning, sky diving, rafting etc here.

Some figures for today:

  • 25,2km
  • 304m up
  • 485m down
  • Hiking time: 5h 25m

    1. Hey Andreas!
Thanks for your comment, so nice reading from you! 😊 As for the pictures: I can show you them in full size of course – but considering the sometimes veeeeery slow internet connection full HD pics on the blog unfortunately are not possible. 😉
And your PS2 gets full marks for the best comment! 😁
      Greetings from Drežnica now,
      Silke

      1. Hey Silke!
        🙂
No worries … awaiting your slide show or pics presentation after your return 😉
        Take care,
        Andreas

          1. doesn’t work… pics always 169px × 300px / 300px x 169px… maybe browser, or firewall … but don’t worry about this, concentrate on the main important thing(s): “one step forward, and no steps back” 😉
